16th December 2009 - Fitting M3 Offset CAB

And yeah looks like I made a good choice with the offset bushings... I was going to go with the E36 M3 ones ( solid, non offset) but then I did more research and the E30 M3 offset ones were the way to go...

I just installed these badboys today, took around 5 hours to do both all up.. due to lack of tools and stupidity.

Lesson learnt, dont try to burn the bushings out because:

1. They dont burn, should be used on shoes or something! ( remembered watching bear grylls and his shoes melted/ burnt on the volcanoe)

and also:

2. Use OIL as LUBE as it never dries out,,, unlike laundry detergent ( got the laundry detergent idea from a DIY found online,,,, but oil worked better)

Anyways abit of a write up:

Work station-

Then I used a screwdriver ( lol) and a hammer to wedge it inbetween the lollypop and the metal carrier... then I used a chisel to cut through.. chisel was amazing wouldnt of done this without it!

Well then came the inner metal bit which was stuck onto the control arm...

Used a grinder to cut through:

Then it was left with this:

Then I alligned the arrows of the lollypop with the CAB

Lubed it up and smacked it with a mallet...

Then I had to mount it onto the control arm...

Ok a word of advice here...

Lube up the control arm and the CAB with OIL... then twist the CAB to get it onto the control arm and then use a mallet to tap it into place...

Do not hold the CAB and hit it with a mallet.. it will not work...

Final thoughts - Car feels more stable, feels great on corners aswell
